FRIDAY 26th SEPTEMBER
STUDYING THE ‘PASSED!’ GT
“This talk explores a subject often overlooked by historians but not by our speaker, Roger Doonan: how societies deal with their waste—specifically, our own personal waste: poo! The history of civilisation is told here through the lens of sanitation and the millennia-long struggle to keep our bodies, homes, and streets clean. The talk considers how religious ideas of cleanliness being next to godliness emerged, and how the great above-ground monuments of the past would have been mired in filth were it not for the equally complex and hidden underground networks of sewerage and drainage.”
FRIDAY 3RD OCTOBER

WEDNESDAY 29TH OCTOBER
‘THE REVIVAL’ AT THE PRIORY THEATRE, KENILWORTH
AT 7.00 FOR 7.30 BC
The cast of Lucian O'Keefe's 1946 classic ghost play `Scared to Death' are gathered and ready for their final dress rehearsal before opening night but all isn't going smoothly. Actors are bickering, one can't remember their lines, the director is on the edge of a nervous breakdown and to top it all off, the ghostly happenings of the play seem to be encroaching onto the real world. Slowly but surely fear takes hold as tales of the play's curse seem to hold true and the cast find themselves caught up in an all too real spine-chilling and terrifying ghost story. Tickets are £13 payable by 24th October to Bob Clemons.
FRIDAY 31ST OCTOBER
1300 YEARS OF THE ILLUSTRATED BOOK MI
Pictures in books have been around for at least 1300 years, and were used to illustrate a story and explain the content. This is their history, beginning in the monasteries in Northumbria to recent graphic novels. Our speaker, James Rose, will refer to many of the books that have a personal connection to himself and probably also to the audience.
